Pair of Senior Centers Seeking Cooks

A pair of Senior Centers in Edwards County are seeking help in the kitchen for their operation.

According to information on the Edwards County Council on Aging Facebook, the West Salem Senior Center is looking for a cook as well as the Grayville Senior Center.

The work is part-time and takes place Monday thru Friday with exception to holidays. Officials also say that some fundraisers are also on the list.

Duties include:
1. All aspects of food preparation, including placing food and supply order from the home office. Fried food will be provided from Albion.
2. Cleans and keeps the kitchen area in an orderly condition.
3. Assist in packaging all food for home delivered meals.
4. Assists in the serving of food for the congregate (dine in) meals.
5. Assist in the cleaning of the dining room area.
6. Washes dishes, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment.
7. Participates in fundraising activities.
8. Performs other assigned duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work closely with members of the senior community, maintain effective working relationships with peers.
Possession, or willingness to obtain, Safety and Sanitation Certification.
Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school graduate, or the equivalent. Program-related education and training may be required and may be paid by the program.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While light duty is not available, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time. Lifting of up to 40 pounds is possible.
