Sondra G. Meyer, age 86, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday evening, July 21, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
She was born January 5, 1938, in Flora, the daughter of Benjamin and Margie (Burris) Martin. She was united in marriage to William R. Meyer on January 7, 1956, in Trenton, Illinois, and together they shared 50 wedding anniversaries until his passing on February 3, 2006.
Sondra was a graduate of Flora High School and had retired from Anchor Glass. Family was of great importance to her, and she enjoyed shopping, watching television while enjoying a glass of iced tea, and spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her daughter: Tracy (Clyde) Pruitt of Flora; 2 sons-in-law: Matthew Dennis of Rutland and Rich Grubaugh of Flora; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog Skeeter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bill Meyer; and 3 daughters: Billie Meyer, Debbie Dennis, and Trish Grubaugh.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Charles Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
