JOHNSONVILLE RURITAN CLUB COMMUNITY DAYS BEGINS TONIGHT (FRIDAY)

By Mark Wells Aug 2, 2024 | 6:00 AM

Johnsonville Community Days, sponsored by the Johnsonville Ruritan Club, kicks off tonight.  Unfortunately, for the 3rd year in a row, the Truck & Tractor Pull scheduled for tonight (Friday) has been cancelled due to the recent rains.  Ruritan club members say the ground was already wet and they were hoping it would dry out in time for tonight’s event but, unfortunately that will not happen. Bingo is tonight  at 6:30. Sandwiches and drinks will be available at the pavilion throughout the evening.

Saturday’s schedule is packed with fun-filled events, starting with the Flea Market and Craft Fair. The day kicks off early with the 5K race, with registration opening at 6:15 am and the run walk beginning at 7 am. Attendees and participants can also look forward to the car, truck, motorcycle, and tractor show, with registration open from 9 am to Noon.  Ham & Beans will be served in the Ruritan building, while the mud bog kicks off at 11 am. Later in the evening, a fish and chicken supper will be served at 5 pm, followed by the entertaining Farm Follies at 6 pm. The parade is Saturday, with lineup starting at 9:30 am and the parade commencing at 10 am, led by this year’s parade marshal, Connie Forth.

The festivities draw to a close on Sunday with a Community Church service featuring speaker Ethan Keyser at 10:30 am, followed by a chicken and pork loin meal at noon.
