Jackie D. Harshbarger, 83, of Fairfield

Jackie D. Harshbarger, 83, of Fairfield, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 10:13AM in Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Jackie retired after being employed as a pipeline welder for fifty years and then as a welding inspector for ten years; working for companies all over the world.
Jackie liked to fish and camp, spend time with family, friends and kept in touch with co-workers he met from around the world. He was also an extremely huge fan of dirt track racing.
Jackie was born on August 10, 1941, to Les Harshbarger and Phyllis Cravens Harshbarger in Fairfield, IL. He graduated from Fairfield Comm. High School in 1960 and went to Tulsa, OK, welding school. Jackie married Sue Elliott On April 12, 1961. Jackie and Sue were married for 63 years.
He was a member of Fairfield First Baptist Church.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Sue; sons Kent Harshbarger and Terry (Cheryl) Harshbarger; grandson Samuel Harshbarger; granddaughters Kamron Harshbarger and Regina (Mike) West; a great grandson and a great granddaughter; aunt Doris Harshbarger; special cousins Connie French and Donnie Veatch; special camping and fishing friends Chuck and Patti Carter; and a special family friend Teresa Young.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12PM on Saturday September 7, 2024, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be Bill J. Bruce, nephew of Jackie and Sue. Visitation will be from 10AM until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
