The Flora Rotary Club has announced its 10th annual Shadows of Elmwood Cemetery Tour, taking place on Friday, September 13th, and Saturday, September 14th. This year’s theme, “The Best Of,” will showcase popular skits from the past nine years, selected through votes at last year’s event and via Facebook.
Tickets can be purchased at the Flora Depot and from there, enjoy a hayride through Elmwood Cemetery, where you’ll experience reenactments about local Flora residents and significant events in their lives. This tour offers a unique historical perspective on the founding of Flora, filled with stories that include humor, emotion, and a touch of scandal.
Ticket sales begin at 5 PM, with the first wagon departing at 5:00 PM each evening. Tickets will be available until 9 PM, and rides will continue until the last patron has gone through. Standard tickets are $8 each, but for $25, you can purchase a Benefactor Ticket that allows you to skip to the front of the line for the next available wagon.
For those unable to ride the hay wagons, ride assist tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for golf cart spots that will follow the wagon through the cemetery. These tickets are also priced at $8 each and are reserved for individuals in need.
While you wait at the Depot, enjoy additional skits and concessions to keep you entertained.
All proceeds from the tour will benefit Flora Rotary and its community projects. Currently, the Rotary Club is working on renovating Flora Rotary Park, previously known as Kiwanis Park, by adding new picnic tables and planning to construct a bathroom this fall for the new Pickleball Courts in Flora.
