WAYNE COUNTY BOARD MEETS THURSDAY WITH LIGHT AGENDA

The Wayne County Board met last (Thursday) with a light agenda.

Vice Chairman Gene Kollak called the meeting to order in the absence of Chairman Daryl Hargrave.

 

Hwy Engineer Dennis Seidel presented a Resolution for bridge work in Massilon Township. All board members were in favor of the resolution.   Sheriff Chis Otey was absent from the meeting but Board Vice Chairman, Gene Kollak reported they had 30 inmates and were staying busy.

CountyClerk  LizAnn Woodrow presented a Resolution from the Wane Co. Trustees pertaining to the sale by bid thru the Treasurer’s Office for a parcel sold in 2021 for taxes. Carroll Vaughan was the high bidder. Ronnie Windland made motion to accept the Resolution. Quinton Greenwalt seconded the motion. All were in favor. Clerk Woodrow informed the Board that Early Voting would begin September 26, 2024. Vote By mail Ballots will also go out that day.

Supervisor of Assessments, Jodi Poole had sent an Intergovernmental Agreement with Big Mound Township to do their assessment. $2400 that would be paid to the General Fund for the service. There was some conversation concerning this matter. Vern Hutson made motion to accept the agreement. Ronnie Windland seconded. There were 7 ayes and 3 Present votes. The 3 Present votes were: Randy Hedricks, Bill Bruce & Andy Glover.

 

Coroner  Carrie Dagg was present to give some updates on her office and health. Andy Glover questioned Dagg about who was on duty when she was having treatment and how many people were deputies under her. Carrie stated she had only been called out 2 times since her emergency surgery and her office’s respond time was always 20-30 minutes. Carrie talked about some projects she hasn’t finished in her office. Dagg also told the Board there were a few things added to her budget this year out of necessity relating indigent deaths and babies.

 

 

Concerning Animal Control/Welfare, Gene Kollak questioned a bill from Loy Hosselton for euthanizing a dog and cat. There was much communication back and forth about the issue. Andy Glover stated that since we have a contract with the Humane Society and Loy Hosselton, they should be taking care of the costs of euthanizing. They felt it warranted more investigation and conversation. Bill Bruce asked that someone get the committee that supposed to be renegotiating the contract with the Humane Society be named quickly so that they can get that completed. Kollak told him he would let County Board Chairman, Daryl Hargrave know as that’s who ultimately assigns committees.
