For those entering into Marion County from Clay County on US 50, construction has started on the highway a few days early. According to the City of Salem Emergency Management Office, work is taking place on US-50 Between the Marion/Clay County Line and just east of Salem. .Construction is expected to last until July 15th in the area. Officials say the maximum width of a vehicle on the stretch of US-50 is 13 and a half feet
Meanwhile, work continues on the I-57 Rehab in the Marion County Area. The State Route 161 interchange is currently closed off to traffic that is heading north bound, but starting June 13th, closures will be happening nightly at the US 50 Interchange on the west end of Salem. The closure will be between the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM.
