The Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association has announced new sportsmanship rules. The rules are intended to improve sportsmanship around sporting events.

For the first ejection of the season, a fan will serve a 3 game suspension while players and coaches will each serve a 2 game suspension. The previous policy was fans would serve 2 games while players and coaches serve 1.

For multiple ejections, players and coaches will now serve a 4-game suspension while fans who are ejected a second time will not be allowed to attend an SIJHSAA event for the remainder of the school year.

Any players, coaches, or fans ejected from an SIJHSAA event must complete a sportsmanship course on the NFHS website. To attend another event, the ejected player, coach, or fan must submit to their home school a completion certificate.

Any SIJHSAA school that does not follow the rules may face consequences from the SIJHSAA.
