During a recent meeting for the Village of Mill Shoals, it was pointed out, Mill Shoals is facing several pressing issues, including litter and waste management, as well as a growing population of feral cats. Village President Ron Gray plans to address the waste problem with tenants, while the feral cat issue may take longer to resolve, as the Humane Society does not accept feral cats. A citizen suggested that local coyotes, which reportedly eat cats, could help manage the population.
The WADI workforce program has attracted interest, and Clerk Tullis will organize a meeting in January for candidates to learn about the program. The squad car’s insurance is secured, but licensing is pending.
Election packets are available for residents interested in running for board positions or mayor, with a deadline of November 20th. Village Treasurer James Murphy reported a solid financial status but urged caution in discretionary spending.
Trustee Young updated the board on sewer pump station issues during storms, recommending outreach to more electricians for solutions.
A town-wide trash pickup is scheduled for October 28th, and the next village meeting will be on October 8th at 7 pm.
