Bobby Deon Carter, age 84 and a resident of Galatia, IL passed away at Deaconess
Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. on July 10, 2023.
A Family Memorial Service is planned at Harco Baptist Church and will take place
at a later date. Please check with the church for the date and time of service.
Bobby was born November 27, 1938 in Galatia, IL (Saline County) to Herman Taylor
Carter and Agnes Allie Lucresia (Logan). He later married Barbara Irene (Smith) on
February 14, 1983. Bobby was employed as a nurse, he attended Harco Baptist
Church and he loved collecting, working on cars, babysitting the grandchildren and
baking pies. He was enlisted in the United States Army for a few years.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Carter of Galatia, Daughters Suzanne Gulley of
Galatia, Amy Lessing of Elgin, IL and Lynley Carter of Galatia; Step-daughter Linda
Reeves of Desloge, MO; five Grandchildren, Derrick Fletcher, Raven Gulley, London Downs, Scarlett Carter and Quinn Carter; two Great-grandchildren, Sophia Carter Fletcher and Charlotte Trowbridge; two Brothers, Glendel Carter of Nason, IL and
Mickie Carter of Galatia, IL; Nieces, Nephews; one Aunt Oma Turner of Ypsilanti, MI;
last but not least, his four footed friends, Prince, Brownie, Jake and Nyla.
Bobby was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister Joyce Fay Carter, Brothers
Billie Carter, Donnie Carter and wife Jullie Carter.
Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL is in charge of Mr. Carter’s arrangements.
