Samuel James Nation, 83, Madisonville, KY (Formerly Fairfield)

Samuel James Nation, 83, formerly of Fairfield passed away at 6:07PM on Tuesday August 29, 2023, at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville KY. He was a farmer, worked with his father at Nation Oil Company, was a mechanic at Hoffee Motor Company, a welder for 50 plus years owning Nation Welding, he worked for the City of Fairfield in the Street and Bridge Department, upon retirement, he worked at A and D Auto Parts. Sam was born in Evansville IN on April 6, 1940, to Ben H and Maude Alice (McNish) Nation. He married Tina Wiles on July 4, 1987. Sam loved his family, God, animals, and baking cookies for family and friends.

Sam is survived by his wife- Tina Nation of Providence KY; daughter-r Heather (J.B.) Posey of Providence KY; son- Samuel (Waynette) Nation Jr of Salem IL; grandchildren- Gabriele Caudle and Landon (Karalee Barnfield) Caudle both of Providence KY, James Posey of Earlington Ky, Ben (Taylor) Nation of Patoka IL, Tim Nation of Salem, and Erin Stanford of Flora IL; great grandchild- Krew Nation; brother- Joe Nation of Mt Vernon IL; sisters- Linda Hooper of Indianapolis IN and Judy (Fred) Koehler of Madison IN

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, daughter- Teresa Standford, and brothers Ben Nation Jr. and Art Nation

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Saturday September 2, 2023, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses and accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge or all the arrangements.
