77 year old Mill Shoals resident Howard McDowell passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Hamilton County Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois
Howard was born in Wayne County, Illinois on July 2, 1946 to Murray and Dorothy (Medler) McDowell. He married Gladys Baker on February 6, 1968 in Fairfield, IL. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2000.
Howard had been an oil field pumper in his early years for DeeDrilling of Mt. Carmel, IL He later worked for the Labor’s Local doing concrete work.
Survivors include his daughter, Mitzie (Paul) Cantrell of Fairfield, IL. 2 Grandchildren Jana (Dustin) Toombs of Barnhill, IL and Cody Cantrell of Fairfield, IL. 1 brother, Eldon (Peggy) McDowell of Eldorado, IL.
Preceding him death were his parents, his wife and 1 sister, Patti Thomason.
Family graveside services for Howard McDowell will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Maple Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to go directly to cemetery.
